It is really a good news for every Central Govt employee. But keeping in view the inflation rate I doubt that Govt has anything to offer. As some web sites and news papers have already commented that there will be no arrears for the year 2006 and 2007 then what is Govt. going to offer.

Let us hope for the best.

Civil servants, armed forces and paramilitary personnel will get to rejoice this Independence Day with the government all set to approve the Sixth Pay Commission report in its Cabinet meeting on Thursday.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday chaired a meeting attended by External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Defence Minister A K Antony and Finance Minister P Chidambaram and discussed the pay commission report and the recommendations of the empowered committee of secretaries that went into the anomalies.

All about the 6th Pay Commission report
"The Cabinet is likely to take up the Sixth Pay Panel report for approval on Thursday and the matter was discussed at a meeting chaired by the PM today," official sources said.

Though the sources refused to share the details of the meeting or the amendment to the pay panel report submitted by its chairperson Justice Sri Krishna earlier this year, the increase over the commission's recommendations are likely to be the tune of 1.83 times of the net pay for the armed forces personnel and a substantial raise for civil servants too.

The Pay Commission had originally recommended that pay for the armed forces be hiked by 1.74 times, calculated on the basis of the inflationary factors.

When the Sixth Pay Commission had submitted its report, armed forces personnel had expressed their resentment, openly that also led to protest rallies by retired personnel, demanding a better deal considering the hardship factor involved in their services.

The tri-services top bosses too had done some hard lobbying with the defence minister, who in turn had batted on behalf of the armed forces with the finance ministry.

The government then set up a high-powered committee headed by Cabinet secretary K M Chandrasekhar to look into the anomalies pointed out by different sections of the government servants, including those from the defence services.

welcome LONG AWAITED GOOD NEWS.

implementation of the report should be from 01.01.2006 as originally recommended by the commission.

Friends, let us all not go overboard about the 'good news'. We should not forget the agony and anxiety we were going through all these tortuous months due to the indifference of this government. We should show our resolve in election. They cannot take us for granted as they do with the illeterate mass by providing them with goodies at the onset of election.

It is good news but ipleentation be fro 1-1-2006. If Govt. can control corruption at higher levels and Govt offices by 10 to 20percent it may be enough to give from 1-1-2006. Differnetial increment leads to giving higher increment to most efficient employee in collection(corruption) rather than service to public. Hence it should be scrapped.

At last we r going to get pay commission. but i dont feel to be a good news . Already inflation rate gone so high and wt ever they give for a common man it will not effect him much.

On the name of pay commission Govt is making fun of defense employees. Because of this no one like to join arm forces . In Pvt sec a normal peon is earning more than a solderer . A solderer cant even make a small house for his family . whole life , he is running for his country. At last wt does he gets...? Most of people r going out of service due to all this.

Don't be under any illusion. If any thing is given by the Govt. it is the Govt. employees to get the least and the last.

I am very sceptic that this will be announced so soon.

ha ha ha, finally central government employees are happy.

The Government has succumbed to the pressure created by non performing employees. Even the present salary is more than they deserve.

8000-275 scale I am getting 23000 and what about now only 26000 kya difference bhai

Anonymous comments that

Too harsh to say. Evaluate the total number of farmers in the country and number of government employees. You will see the difference.

Now I think you may 'feel better'

It's a grate thing too, if the payment of arrears for ex-serviceman in lump sum may help them to survive well

UPA GOVT. HAS CHEATED THE EMPLOYEES BECAUSE EARLIER THEY HAVE SETUP A COMMITTEE OF SECRETARIES TO MODIFY THE 6TH PAY COMMISSION REPORT. WHEN THE COMMITTEE OF COS HAS SUBMITTED THE REPORT.THE GOVT. OR LIKE MR. CHITAMBARUM AND ETC HAS DENIED TO IMPLEMENTATION OF THE COS RECOMMENDATIONS. COS RECOMMENDATION WAS FAR BETTER FOR LOWER EMPLOYEES THAN THE PAY COMMISSION. NATURALLY, IT WILL AGAINST THE UPA GOVT. AS THE PAY COMMISSION HAS DUBMITTED ITS RECOMMENDATION TO THE GOVT.DECLEARD ON 24 MARCH,2008, THE MARKET WAS REACTED HIGH NEST DAY. IT IS CONTINUED BUT THE REAL HIKE IS NOTHING.
